Eric Weiner and Outhentic In Burgas

The American bestselling author Eric Weiner and the Bulgarian band Outhentic visited Burgas on June 16 at 7:00 PM at the Expo Center “Flora.”

Eric Weiner presented his book The Geography of Bliss, included in the New York Times all-time bestsellers list, as well as his other two titles—Man Seeks God and The Geography of Genius. In addition to meeting Eric Weiner, the Burgas audience had the opportunity to hear live for the first time his favorite Bulgarian ethno-jazz band, Outhentic—a group of young Bulgarian musicians who are gaining worldwide recognition for their modern interpretation of traditional Bulgarian folk music.

Eric Weiner’s books enjoy immense popularity, having been translated into more than 30 languages and read in almost every country in the world. Many high schools and universities have included his works in their curricula. He has been a reporter in over 30 countries, from Iraq to Indonesia, covering most major international events of recent times.

Weiner is a recipient of several journalism awards. He is a former correspondent for the U.S. National Public Radio and The New York Times. Among his accolades are the Angel Award for coverage of Islamic issues in Asia, the Borders Original Voices Award, and he was a finalist for the Barnes & Noble Discover award. He was also part of the team that won the Peabody Award for investigative journalism on the tobacco industry in the U.S.

Eric Weiner writes a regular column for BBC Travel and frequently contributes to publications such as the Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, New Republic, Slate, Foreign Policy, and The New York Times Magazine. His work has been featured in the anthology Best American Travel Writing, and he also hosts a morning show on National Public Radio in the United States.
